The Behavioral Support Instructor works cooperatively with the program staff in providing consistent programming and behavioral interventions. Provides direct support and mentoring, being actively engaged with clients, in programming as outlined in the personal plan. Ensures clients are safe and healthy.

Duties: Provides overall care and services, which may include bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, cooking, cleaning, and laundry, for people living at the homes. Provides education and support to clients in completing daily hygiene, eating well balanced meals and snacks, overall upkeep of the home. Provides education to clients regarding their human rights and ensures that rights are respected. Provides education and support to clients to expand leisure interests and social opportunities, to increase affiliation in their community, and to make friends. Transports clients to day programming, school, or within their community in personal vehicle. Implements treatment protocols and programs based on the Behavior Support Plan and works as member of the behavioral support team. Documents detailed behavioral data throughout shift and completes reports, service documentation and other required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Supports clients during crisis situations or periods of agitation by verbal or other non-violent interventions. Monitors clients' physical and emotional well-being and reports unusual behavior, changes in condition or mental health manifestations to appropriate support team.

A successful candidate will possess: Good communication skills, both orally and written. The desire to provide direct support to clients with developmental disabilities in their home and as part of a team and must be flexible, reliable, and dependable and embrace change. Must be able to foster positive professional relationships with families and staff. Conducts self in polite and professional manner. Must be physically able to deal with aggressive and/or interfering behaviors on a frequent basis.

Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or GED required. College credit in human service or related field preferred. Experience: 1 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities with behavior disorders who have active, involved behavioral support plans. Specific Skills: Must maintain a safe driving record. Must have clean, reliable, working vehicle with enough fuel to meet clients' transportation needs. Must have the ability to do basic math. Other: Must be available to work some weekdays, weekends, and evening shifts. For all full time positions, permanent schedule must include at least one weekend shift. Requires Advanced Mandt and Tools of Choice training.
