Swedish Match North America LLC, a consumer-packaged goods producer (CPG) and market leader of cigars and a broad assortment of smokeless tobacco products is currently seeking a Hi-Speed Machine Mechanics (2nd shift) in Dothan, AL.
The position must be able to operate and maintain Hi-speed cigar production machinery and facility production support equipment. This equipment includes but not limited to: ERIS Rodmaker, Variomat, KHS packaging equipment, Hopper/Upright Loader, Marden Edwards Case Packers, automated conveyors, touch screens and air suction equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES The Hi--Speed Mechanic will observe and follow all safety rules and Company policies as outlined by Swedish Match Cigars. Create and maintain a positive work environment through continuous communication, participation in common goals and providing products and services that meet our customer's specifications. Multitasking within the Facility when needed, examples are material handling, operating machinery, forklift driver, etc. Training will be provided prior to any multitasking the employee is asked to perform. Promptly inform Lead Mechanics of problems inhibiting performance. Ability to operate and maintain various types of hi--speed cigar making and packaging machinery to achieve established production standards. Responsible for machinery/equipment repairs, preventive maintenance activities and corrective troubleshooting on all hi--speed equipment. Evaluate the performance of existing production machinery to identify mechanical deficiencies causing low efficiencies and higher than standard waste levels. Make necessary mechanical adjustments to maintain quality attributes. Responsible for keeping the work area neat and clean at all times. Assist with capital projects within responsibilities. Assist in auditing and maintaining all documents related to ISO EMS/QMS families. Responsible for notifying Lead Mechanic if proper temperature and humidity conditions are out of set ranges in the production area. Interfaces with production team and others in the organization to insure internal/external customer deadlines are met. Suggests changes or ideas in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of or reduce operating costs of department. Assist in training of other personnel as required. Work closely with any on site contractors to ensure work is complete.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Effectively communicate to groups of customers or employees of the organization. Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Data entry on a computer.
