Manufacturing Technician

OFS Fitel, a global leader of optical fiber, cable, and assemblies is looking for  Manufacturing Technician  in our Fiber Draw department to help support our business in Avon, CT. This is an entry-level position and OFS provides the necessary training to allow for growth in the role. OFS is a leading edge designer, manufacturer, and supplier of optical fiber and cable, and specialty fiber optic products and solutions for a wide variety of applications and industries. We have a proven track record of being first in the industry with new application specific products.

Our technicians are responsible for product flow using prints, recipes, and workmanship standards to ensure engineering and quality specifications are met. Although working under immediate supervision our technicians are expected to work independently following our pre-established guidelines. The candidate will also participate in improvement initiatives to meet department goals and/or business objectives.

Candidates for consideration must have a high school diploma, demonstrable technical or mechanical ability, ability to read mechanical drawings, have basic PC skills and the ability to follow our written work instructions. The ideal candidate will have similar manufacturing/extrusion experience, knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and an Associate's Degree/certification from an accredited technical program. General understanding of optical waveguide and fundamental fiber theory desired.
